Combined Heat and Power CHP

Two new, high-performance gas turbine plants with heat recovery steam generators are being built in the Gutleutviertel district. Here, heat and electricity will continue to be generated simultaneously. The combined heat and power plant, which is mainly operated with hard coal, is expected to be completely converted to initially natural gas as early as 2026. In the course of the conversion and modernization, the existing coal-fired units will be replaced by two new units, each with a gas turbine with heat recovery steam generator. These modernizations contribute to the decarbonization of energy generation: In this way, the CO₂ emissions of the generation park can be continuously reduced. In the future, the focus will be on the use of CO₂-free gases - such as climate-neutral hydrogen.
