Construction of an AC/DC converter station in Emden

The awarding of the contract by our customer, Hitachi ABB Power Grid (HPG) at the end of February and the signing of the contract on 23.03.2021 marked the ground-breaking ceremony for the project. The construction site was opened and the first earthworks have begun.

Heitkamp is constructing the plant building including interior fittings, a steel construction hall for the converters, a base plate including rails for the transformers. Furthermore, Heitkamp is responsible for the complete outdoor facilities including roads, parking spaces and fencing.

The construction time is approx. 17 months, so that Heitkamp will probably be able to hand over the project in September 2022.
